New research examines how much material from Alpha Centauri could reach our solar system.

Alpha Centauri is our nearest stellar neighbor and is moving toward us at a speed of 79,000 km per hour .

Researchers ran simulations to determine how much of the material can reach us from AC .

They found that a median of 3.30 micrometers can survive the journey.

About 10 particles from Alpha Centauri become detectable meteors in Earth 's atmosphere currently.

Most of it traveled for less than 10 Myr to reach us, but it has to be larger than about 10 microns to survive the journey.

If AC does host exoplanets, some of the material reaching us could be from the same reservoir that those planets formed from.
