49% Informative

This video is based off of a book called an Atlas of extinct countries by Gideon Dafoe .

It goes through the remarkable and occasionally ridiculous stories of 48 nations that fell off the I read this book.

I actually went to one of these, and some of these I had never even heard of.

The Republic of Cospaya is the name of a microstate in what are now Italy .

Pope Eugene the 4th basically went up to the Medici family and was like hey, I need some money. He sold them some land and they divided on a border of a river.

But they didn't realize the river split into a double tributary, which left a bunch of land in between them.

From there they kind of made their own country. They didn't really organize a government, though.

In the 1600 's, Brazil was mostly under the Portuguese , a little bit of the Dutch in the area of what is now Hissy .

Many of the former slaves ran away from their plantations and into the forests.

So many of them to the point where they created Qui Lombos , or it kind of translates to like a community of towns, like a Township or something.
