Within hours of starting searches I found and joined Telegram group selling banned weapons.
There were zombie knives, machetes, switchblades and swords - but legal ones aren't technically illegal.
Snapchat, TikTok and Meta say they actively work to remove harmful content.
TikTok said it worked closely with government and police to understand changes in knife crime.
Telegram is crucial as it is the place where sales of the dangerous weapons actually take place.
Ronan Kanda's sister said his murderer "didn't have any problems collecting his knife from his local post office".
