Mexican physicist Miguel Alcubierre wanted to see if it was possible to build a warp drive given our current knowledge of physics.

He says that you can't travel faster than the speed of light in the universe.

Distant galaxies appear to recede away from us faster than light.

But general relativity says you can never exceed light locally and warp drives exploit this loophole.
