Ashlee Christine Shingoose , 31 , was one of four known victims of a serial killer who targeted Indigenous women in Manitoba .
The identification was confirmed through DNA tests on pants linked to convicted murderer Jeremy Skibicki .
The news prompted police to redouble efforts to search Winnipeg -area landfills where the remains of three other victims have been found.
Ashley Shingoose has been identified as Ashley Skibicki's first victim.
Officials collected DNA from a jacket believed to have been worn by her.
The DNA on the jacket did not belong to her, however, and officials then tested pants.
It's not clear if officials believe there are other victims yet to be identified.
