Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.

The next day , he fired Richardson and promoted Rockford IceHogs coach Anders Sörensen to Hawks interim coach.

Davidson has had check-ins with his cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital .

The 25 -46-11 season ended with two straight wins and a standings point in five of the last six games.

In the second half of the season , the Hawks started calling up high-end prospects from Rockford or signing them after their college seasons.

“The fruit of his labor start to come to fruition,” Wirtz said.
