Elon Musk’s DOGE is attempting to modernize the SSA with a ChatGPT-style chatbot.
The bot is supposed to “assist employees with everyday tasks and enhance productivity,â an internal email reads.
A training video was supposed to explain to SSA staffers how to use the chatbot failed to tell them a critical piece of information.
A similar attempt at automating social services in Brazil shows why over-reliance on algorithms to operate welfare programs may result in worse outcomes.
DOGE recently announced that it would attempt to rewrite the entirety of the SSA ’s codebase in a matter of months .
Sources have suggested that, at the breakneck speed at which they plan to work, they would almost certainly have to rely on AI to do this.
