Kernels newcomer Logan Bessler has placed himself firmly in the state meet podium picture in both the discus and the shot put.
Bessler moved to Mitchell from Crete , Nebraska , last year , to join the Mitchell High School track and field program.
The son of Dakota Wesleyan University football defensive coordinator Chris Bessler , Bessler found an immediate fit as a Kernel through athletics.
He credits teammates Bryer Stach and Ayden Wood for pushing him to perform.
Bessler has all the ability necessary to finish on the Class AA podium in both the shot put and the discus.
Bessler ’s personal goals are to push for 160 feet in discus and 55 feet in shot put.
“I just feel like I have the support from all my teammates and my coaches,” Bessler said.
