Britain’s deal with India will have far more impact than Trump’s razzmatazz

60% Informative
Donald Trump unveiled a raft of new taxes on imports into the US on April 2nd .
The President’s across-the-board 10pc tariff on all imports into America remained in place.
But a 90-day moratorium on higher “reciprocal tariffs” on countries running large trade surpluses with the US had helped calm nerves on global markets.
India is halving tariffs on UK whisky and gin and will also help smaller companies to export via simplified customs and digital trade systems.
India will leap from being the world’s fifth to the third -biggest economy over the next five years , overtaking Japan and Germany .
The US deal focuses on stabilising existing trade under ongoing tariff threats.
