Premier Danielle Smith 's government passed 19 pieces of legislation during the spring sitting.

The sitting wrapped up late Wednesday evening after the sitting ended under the cloud of a health-care contract corruption scandal.

Smith ’s government also passed a budget that delivers a long-promised tax cut while forecasting a $5.2-billion deficit.

The Canadian Public Health Association criticized the move this week .

It said it risks “undermining the effectiveness, integrity and independence of public health in Alberta ’s province” NDP house leader Christina Gray said the sitting should be characterized as sowing chaos and abusing its majority power.

Schow, who is also the United Conservative government house leader, sharply disagreed with that assessment.
