A University of Michigan study found plants with mite domatia had significantly more mites on their leaves.

The study was led by U-M researcher Marjorie Weber , associate professor of ecology and evolutionary biology.

Mites play a large role in protecting trees in Michigan forests, Weber says.

Lauren Jones is a senior in the U-M Program in the Environment who is simultaneously a first-year graduate student in the School for Environment and Sustainability through an accelerated master's program.

"I never dreamed that I would be able to achieve that with such a wonderful support system before I received my undergraduate degree," she says.
