Edmonton zoning bylaw prompts surge in infill, upsets neighbourhoods

70% Informative
A year in, the City of Edmonton ’s new set of zoning bylaws have encouraged more redevelopment within the city.
Edmonton Neighbourhoods United is a grassroots organization that started in February .
The group's concerns include a lack of consultation regarding the zoning changes, poor neighbourhood integration from new developments, and an ongoing inability to have their voices heard.
ENU and the neighbourhoods its represents want better consultation on future developments of their neighbourhoods.
The city acknowledges the strife that some redevelopments are causing in neighbourhoods throughout the city.
There’s no current action to change, or “throttle down,” the redevelopment.
The key now will be striking a balance between the benefits of increased density and the toll residents say its currently taking.
