Birmingham Brother Rice 's Danny Holt was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the fifth grade.
Holt has been closely tracking his blood sugar in every setting of his life.
The senior midfielder always has a snack and some apple juice on hand before he takes the field.
"People laugh, but it's to keep me safe," Holt said Friday , May 23 , after Brother Rice beat Utica Eisenhower 17 -1.
Holt decided to pursue theater in his final year because he had always been passionate.
He performed in every showing up until the night before the first 5 a.m. practice for lacrosse.
Holt likened preparing for his lead role to how he has improved as a faceoff player through nonstop repetition.
