The number of Gila County residents on Medicaid and CHIP has nearly doubled over the past 15 years .

Almost 4 in 10 residents are on one of the plans for low- and moderate-income people or those with disabilities.

The House GOP plan would require working-age Medicaid enrollees to prove they are employed or seeking work.

More than two-thirds of nearly 300 U.S. counties with the biggest growth in Medicaid and CHIP backed Trump in the last election.

Many of these counties are in deep-red states such as Kentucky , Louisiana , and Montana .

Voters in these areas are more likely to be concerned about government waste, polls show.
